G’day, I’m Felicity Brand. I write and edit for a living, mostly for open source organisations — my day job is at Open Strategy Partners, a communications agency based in Cologne, Germany.

I live in Melbourne but my days are spent in European open source, and when I go looking for views of the Australian open source landscape, it’s not easy to find. The projects, organisations, and policies exist, but the information is scattered. Australia has a long history of open source with active communities and projects that reach well beyond this country, but nothing ties it all together.

They say write the book you want to read, so I built the site I wanted to browse. And if you don’t actually know what open source is — hi Mum — start at What is Open Source?

In this guide, I use the term open source quite broadly, to cover software, hardware, data, standards, repair, policies, you name it. I know I’m casting a wide net but I really wanted to bring everything into one place.
